3 Simple Recipes for MORE ENERGY

April 21, 2021 By Autumn Calabrese

You guys are always asking for more recipes and ways to increase your energy, so I thought, why not combine both?

Today, I have 3 Simple Recipes for MORE ENERGY. And the best part? They are NO HASSLE recipes! You gotta love those! No need to do some long, complicated meal prep. These are simple recipes that you can easily add to your daily nutrition, for more sustained energy.

The first one is roasted chickpeas.
Roasted chickpeas are the perfect healthy snack to satisfy your crunchy, salty snack cravings!

In a bowl, combine the chickpeas with

1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika

Roast them in the oven at 425 for about 30 minutes or until dry and crunchy. Let them cool, and bam! You have a healthy, energetic snack ready to go!

Next up is The Avo Smash. (one of Dom's favorite!)
Essentially, the “Avocado Smash” is mashed avocado on a nice slice of bread, possibly sourdough, or another type of whole-grain bread. It’s important to avoid heavily processed bread and choose healthy, fiber-rich options. Sourdough is a really great fit since the method of fermentation makes for a lighter bread that’s easier to digest. Crackers can also be an option, but make sure they’re not too sodium-heavy or sugar-rich. Avocado is rich in Omega-3s, which are healthy fatty acids. In addition to that, it has a high-fiber content and lots of minerals.

In its most basic form, all you need to do is to mash up an avocado and spread it on a slice of bread, even better if toasted! If you want to get fancy, mix up some herbs and extra virgin olive oil with your avocado, as well as some flaky salt and pepper. Extra virgin olive oil is packed with antioxidants and lycopene, so it would make for a tasty and healthy add-on. Thyme or cilantro makes a great freshness and flavor addition. You can also top it all off with almonds, pine nuts, and/or pumpkin seeds.

If you eat animal products and want to pack this dish with an extra load of protein, add a poached egg, runny and delicious, or some sprouted tofu/tempeh for a plant-based alternative.

Lastly, The Power Smoothie.
There are millions of ways to make a great smoothie, but I always, ALWAYS use Shakeology. I drink shakeology every single day. This isn't something I promote just to make a few bucks here. This is a product that I LOVE and have made it a daily staple in my life because it WORKS! It's jam jam-packed with everything that we need to feel energized and balanced. I blend up my power smoothie with a scoop of shakeology, coconut milk, berries, and some frozen cauliflower or spinach. That's it! No fuss no muss!

You’ll end up with a great-tasting smoothie that’s so packed with potassium, magnesium, and other minerals, not to mention the amazing vitamin content!

What do you think of these 3 simple recipes for more energy? Give them a week or so to work their magic and let me know what you think.
