Your body is the one thing that will be with you for the rest of your life. The habits you build now can set you up to have flat abs and a shapely booty…or high blood pressure and a potbelly. Hollywood stars like Jennifer Lopez, who seem to get better with age, make their health and fitness a priority. You can do the same!

JENNIFER DOESN’T DRINK CAFFEINE OR ALCOHOL

Jen told US Weekly, “I don’t drink, smoke, or have caffeine. That really wrecks your skin as you get older.” Caffeine can boost your metabolic rate in the short term, but too much can cause nervousness, insomnia, and increased blood pressure. Alcohol and coffee, both are often served in beverages with a lot of sugar and calories.  Drink them in doses, or get right like Ms. Lopez and cut them out all together.

SHE WORKS OUT IN THE MORNING

“I don’t like doing it later; it’s harder to get there when I have my day going already,” she told Hollywood Life.

JLO GETS JOY FROM EXERCISE

“I am 100 percent convinced that working out is part of what makes me so happy,” she told Hello Magazine. “Dance has always been a huge part of my life and taking the time to move my body and do something that’s so good for me is key to my happiness.”When you find something you enjoy, it won’t be a task to go do it. Being healthy is a lifestyle, so find an activity that you’re excited to do for the rest of your life.

SHE DOESN’T JUST DANCE…SHE DOES WEIGHT TRAINING AS WELL

Aside from dancing, Jen switches up her workout routine regularly. kickboxing, HIIT, circuit training, burpees, lunges, and ab workouts. I like switching it up with my body,” J. Lo said. She also does weight training, so she doesn’t lose muscle from all the dancing she does.

JENNY FROM THE BLOCK  DOESN’T MAKE EXCUSES

“Very rarely will I skip my workout,” she told Us Weekly. “Sometimes, I work too late the night before, and I’m like, ‘Ugh, I can’t do this.’ But I tell myself, ‘Just do it. It’s only an hour.’ It’s just talking yourself off the ledge of being a lazy bum.” If Jennifer “has 98439830 jobs” Lopez can make time for a work out, what’s your excuse?

SHE STICKS TO LEAN PROTEINS, NON-STARCHY VEGGIES, HEALTHY FATS, AND COMPLEX CARBS…

“We eat a lot of green vegetables, asparagus, Brussel sprouts, broccoli and kale. I love to cook, I cook a lot of stuff, I love cooking Puerto Rican food because that’s what I grew up on.” JLO, US Weekly

EVEN WHEN EATING OUT

“Most restaurants offer healthy, low-calorie meals so I watch for things on the menu that fit my lifestyle. I’ll have a salad or some fish with veggies. And I make sure I drink lots of water throughout the meal.” – Jennifer Lopez, Hello Magazine

THE MOM OF TWO  GETS ENOUGH SLEEP

“The number one tip is to always get enough sleep. I can’t stress this enough. Ideally I would love to get nine or 10 hours of sleep, but either way, I always make sure I get at least eight,” Future Mrs. A-Rod told Instyle.

JENNIFER TAKES CARE OF HER SKIN POST-WORKOUT

“I always, always wash my face after a workout. That helps keep my pores clean and my skin feeling healthy. Then I’ll usually put on moisturiser and sunscreen, with maybe a little make-up if I’m going out or moisturiser and eye cream if it’s the evening.”

SHE STAYS HYDRATED

“First of all, hydrate. Drinking plenty of water, especially before a workout, can help you push harder and get more out of your exercise routine.”
